Muskego Boy Heading to Portugal to Play Soccer on International Stage

Dylan Grohall, 11, is one of 18 members of PFC United team that will face opponents from Spain, Portugal in April

Brenda Grohall said her family was encouraged to enter her twin sons in a tryout for the Premier Football Concepts academy (PFC) team that would play in an invite-only tournament in Lisbon Portugal this April, if just for the experience.

"We thought it would be a great opportunity to work with different coaches and learn new things," Grohall said. She told her boys that they needed to realize they may not make the cut, or that one but not the other would, and that they needed to be OK with that.

However, when the call came from coach Michael Beatty that Dylan, 11, made the team, Grohall said they had to sit down as a family and think about it.

"I had a lot of questions, so I called the next day and talked at length with the coach," she said. Reassured, the trip was a go.

The PFC team is made up of 18 members, ranging in age 11 to 13 years, and includes kids from New Berlin, Muskego, Brookfield and Milwaukee as well. Dylan is only one of two 11 year olds to make the team. The PFC Academy team will have the chance to play against 4 of the top (15) Academy Soccer Clubs in the World.

Now, passports in hand, Brenda and Dylan will be departing on April 3rd, and wanted to pass along a few opportunities for the community to become 'boosters.'Β  CAC International Youth Tournament in Lisbon Portugal this April.

Several fundraisers to help with travel and associated expenses will be held, including:

March 20 - Dave and Busters, Wauwatosa (2201 N. Mayfair Road); the PFC Academy team will earn a percentage of every food, non-alcoholic beverage and Power Card purchase between 4 and 7 pm

Sundays and Mondays in March - Matty's Bar & Grille, located at 14460 West College Avenue, New Berlin; proceeds from every purchase of a gourmet pizza from Matty's 5-9 PM will go toward the PFC team. Tell Matty’s staff that the purchase is for the PFC Academy team so the kids can appreciate the proceeds.
