Nicolet Students Putting Pen to Paper

Four student-athletes signed letters of intent Friday for St. Louis University, University of Iowa, University of Akron and McHenry College.

In front of around 60 friends, family, and coaches inside the D-Wing Library of Nicolet High School, four student-athletes signed their letters of intent Thursday.

Briana Gray (Basketball, St. Louis University), Calli Head (Diving, University of Iowa), Jessica Kloehn (Volleyball, University of Akron) and CJ Putterman (Baseball, McHenry College) all signed their letters of intent to commit to those universities.

Chris Dempsey is Calli Head's diving coach and said she's a "great asset to the team."

Gray had transferred into Nicolet before the 2011 season and made an immediate impact. Gray averaged 10 points per game playing in 23 of 24 games.  Rick Dekeyser, head basketball coach, knew he had something great on the court when Gray transferred in.

“Bri is as good on the court as she is off the court, she's a great team leader,” said Dekeyser

“It’s a dream come true, I’m just happy,” Gray said about her commitment to St. Louis.

Jessica Kloehn was named honorable mention All-State this season for Nicolet volleyball and said she owes a lot of credit to her teammates.

“Without you, I wouldn’t have become who I am today,” said Kloehn.

CJ Putterman’s assistant coach Jason Grodsky saw what a great talent Putterman was from day one.

“When I showed up two years ago and couldn’t believe the talent he had,” said Grodsky.

When Athletic Director Kirk Krychowiak took the microphone at the end of the event, he had a simple message for both Gray and Putterman, who still have their senior seasons to play out.

“Just remember that you have games to win here before you move on with college,” said Krychowiak.

Great job Kirk for setting this up and congrats to the 4 student athletes who have worked hard to put themselves into this position. Best of luck to you all. BTW the AD at Nicolet is Kirk Krychowiak not Keychowik. Tough name but....
