Youth Baseball Team Has Cooperstown Dreams

The U-12 Muskego Warriors are traveling to Cooperstown, N.Y., home of the Baseball Hall of Fame, for a week-long tournament.

A Muskego youth baseball team is getting set for a trip to the mecca of all things baseball—Cooperstown, N.Y.

The U-12 Muskego Warriors leave for New York July 19 to play in a week-long tournament, nicknamed "The Greatest Tournament in America," with more than 100 other teams from the United States and Canada.

In addition to competing for the national title, players will also compete in individual and team skills competitions.

The boys stay in barracks during their week in Cooperstown, home of the National Baseball Hall of Fame, and participate in opening and closing ceremonies.

"The idea is to really reach back to the heritage of baseball, where people played for the love of the game against the best competition in the country," according to a news release.

The Warriors include Steven Jamroziak, Wes Kwapick, Tyler Termaat, Dawson Prusinski, Brandon Wikel, Sam Greenthal, AJ Makinen, Austin Malkowski, J.R. Muth, Brandon Eckel, and Josef Oechsner.

This isn't their first time at a national tournament. They took home a championship in tournaments in Myrtle Beach, S.C. in 2011 and Jacksonville, Ill. in 2010.
