Anita’s Dance Center dancers were seen at the Muskego Christmas parade on Nov. 17, marking the first of many appearances for the holiday season. The group also performed at the Waukesha Holiday parade on Nov. 18, and in the Menomonee Falls parade on Nov. 25. Their parade unit consists of a decorated mobile DJ unit and costumed dancers performing to popular hits and holiday classics. In addition dancers from Anita’s will be performing their version of "The Nutcracker" on Dec. 8 and 9 at the New Berlin West High School Performing Arts Center. For a small town, we've got plenty of dance outlets and what better week to focus on those resources than National Dance Week?
Muskego it seems features a wealth of options in dance and performance, with no less than four dance studios within its borders, so why not celebrate that along with National Dance Week, April 21 - 28. Maxines is one of the longest established studios, and is distinguished by its big red barn, which also offers the ability to incorporate aerial fabric. Suspended from a high beam, a wide 'ribbon' of fabric is used by dancers to wind themselves into artistic displays that combine gymnastics with dance. This is the second year that American Express is looking to support the small businesses that often get overlooked on Black Friday with Small Business Saturday. However, I'd like to go a step further and say why not keep Black Friday from becoming black-and-blue Friday by skipping the madness of the big boxes and opting for one of many options less than five miles from most homes in Muskego? The parking hassle won't exist, quantities likely won't be limited and the service is more personal and friendly.
