Water Bugs Take to the Lake with a Frozen Fundraiser

Fifth annual Ice Golf Classic (weather permitting of course) puts the ski club atop the water again on Feb. 9 to raise funds for the coming season

The Muskego Water Bugs Show Ski Team will again take to the lake, but this time the show is on ice. The club is holding its 5th annual Ice Golf Classic on Saturday, Feb. 9. played in Schrubring Bay (near Lannon Drive) on Little Muskego Lake. Proceeds will go to cover costs for costumes, equipment and gas in the 2013 season.   The weather has been less than kind to those looking to recreate on the ice so far this season, but organizers are hoping for a return to cold 'regular winter' temperatures to lay a 13-hole course on the ice. Registrants can check in at 11 a.m. at Danny Haskell's and there will be a shotgun start at noon. Admission is $50 per person, and you can sign up with a foursome or you can be placed by sending an email to Tom …

Where to Go Out to Ring In the New Year in Muskego

Muskego's pubs have a local pub crawl Thursday night, but will also be open for your New Year's pleasure, as well as the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1.

The party starts early in Muskego as the last big weekend of the year approaches, taking us nearly to mid week next week. Overall, tavern owners tell us it's not as big of a night as you would expect, so things are kept fairly low-key. If you feel like heading out to celebrate there are also a few options, beginning Thursday, but as in all things, be smart and be safe. Thursday, Dec. 27 - Holiday Pub Crawl 6:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m. Matty's Bar, Marx Pioneer Inn, JD's Pub, Danny Haskell's and Romey's in Franklin are all part of this annual local event, which allows you to 'bus it' between establishments. $20  New Year's Eve, Monday, Dec. 31 - AJ's Bar & Grill: plenty happening on the last night of the year, including a giveaway for an HD TV. …

Ride for Stacy a Success

Friends and supporters rode to raise awareness and more than $4,000 to help Muskego native battle cancer.

Friend of Stacy Young Barb Jozwicki was enthusiastic in reporting the results of the 'Ride for Stacy' on July 21. "We raised almost $4000.00! The deposit was made today at US Bank, however the donations are still coming in!" she said. About 40 motorcycles and many more supporters attended the event, which began and ended at Danny Haskell's Pub. The business got behind efforts to help Young, who is a Muskego High School graduate and avid volunteer with American Cancer Society events herself, in hopes of offsetting the cost of her own cancer treatment and to help Young with personal expenses as she cannot work. "We ended up with 82 baskets of items that were raffled off. The band, Union Cadillac donated their entire performance," said …

Ride for Stacy Ready for Riders

Sign up for the ride to help a Muskego native who is battling cancer starts now, so stop by Danny Haskell's to take part.

Sign up begins July 14 for anyone wishing to hop on their motorcycle and take part in Danny Haskell's "Ride for Stacy," which takes place on Saturday July 21. Stacy Young is a 43 year Muskego native and 1986 MHS graduate who currently resides in Milwaukee. Her broad smile is engaging and reflects a woman who is literally grateful for every day she has, and with good reason. Young had been diagnosed with breast cancer in June 2010 and has now been fighting ovarian cancer since December 2011. Her hair is just growing back from recent chemotherapy to combat its progress, but her spirit is positive, despite the long journey she's already had to make with the disease. "It's actually a little scary for me after chemo is over, because going …
