Scot Ecker will leave the school district on Dec. 28 after 4 1/2 years of service to take a position with Carthage College; Supervisor of Building and Grounds Gary Rosploch will retire in February.
While the job was posted on the Muskego-Norway School District's website last week, confirmation on Scot Ecker's departure was not made public until Monday night, when the School Bard accepted his resignation as director of business services. Ecker told Muskego Patch that he would leave at the end of December to take a position as vice president at Carthage College in Kenosha. Ecker's departure is another in a string of job announcements from the district this year, which began with the resignation of Superintendent Joe Schroeder in July. His leaving led to several internal promotions as the filling of every position led to the opening of another. Four schools saw changes in their principals' offices over the summer. Posted as a discussion item for the school board Monday night, the matter is deferred pending more information.
The Muskego-Norway School Board was to review and discuss a plan from Gary Rosploch, buildings and grounds supervisor, but treasurer Dean Strom requested for it to be deferred as the facilities committee was requesting further information. Provided in the agenda packets for Monday night's meeting however was the plan by Rosploch to prioritize renovations and improvements to the schools. A second failed referendum for a district-wide improvement and building plan has required that these tasks fall into certain 'buckets' according to Rosploch's plan The list of facility needs and deferred maintenance at the elementary schools totals about $8.6 million according to a report provided in August 2011. District hopes videos can shed more information on what's at stake in upcoming school referendum
The Muskego-Norway School District has posted two videos in anticipation of the Nov. 8 referendum, which will ask residents if they approve borrowing for a nearly $30 million school facilities plan. One video reiterates what an earlier mailer sent to residents has outlined as far as its plans should the referendum pass. It also compares the earlier plan, which failed in an earlier referendum, with the one on the table now. The school district is going on the offensive, outlining a "revised, reduced and responsive" plan, and is hoping that along with the mailer, in-house tours and informational nights, the videos will help plead their case. The building and grounds position could be eliminated and combined with the new budget director's position as other districts do. Could be some savings there. Also didnt New Berlin replace their janitors with a cleaning company and save $400k per year? With teachers getting a raise and insurance costs rising yet again money could be saved by privatizing the janitors. I hope both those positions …   more ›
