More Bang for the Buck at Jammin'

New dollar menu seeks to spread the wealth of attendance so people 'graze' along the whole route of the 4-mile festival.

No doubt the Jammin' on Janesville mailer and map came to your house just befor the weekend, and one of the new features this year is a dollar menu. Organizers hope to encourage patrons, who came out in the thousands last year, to taste a little from each restaurant along the way, instead of 'hunkering down' and having a larger meal in one spot. This year, of the 90 or more businesses participating in the event, about 20 percent will be featuring some food or beverage menu, so the dollar menu is hoped to allow people to try more in more places. Coordinator Cassandra Wurster said there are about 25 menu items on the list. Some menu items are not food, like the 'mini spa' offered by L Spa, but most will be perfect for walking and noshing at …

Paul Ryan Pushes 'Path to Prosperity' To Friendly Crowd in Muskego

Ryan warned of a looming debt crisis and fielded a question about cuts to food stamps and welfare reform.

Though his brainchild "Path to Prosperity" budget proposal failed to pass Congress, Wisconsin’s 1st District Congressman Paul Ryan used those words as a headline for his presentation Thursday in Muskego, speaking with a fresh urgency about reducing U.S. debt. The message seemed to resonate with the crowd of more than 100 people at Muskego's High Tide. “He’s been bold and brave enough to stand up for several years,” Bill Kuter, who came from West Allis, said of Ryan. “If you keep knocking on the door, someone’s listening, and someone’s going to answer.” Ryan spoke for about fifteen minutes about the threat of debt crisis and his ideas to reduce government regulations and spending, before fielding questions from a favorable audience at the …

Muskego Meets the 'New Normal' As Paul Ryan Comes to Town

Congressman's listening sessions have not been new to cities in the First Congressional District, but political climate has never been this charged.

The last time I saw Paul Ryan speak in Muskego it was to support then candidate Dave Craig for the 83rd Assembly seat in Wisconsin.  A crowd of just under 100 were present, and while the focus was to be on Craig, the group couldn't help but ask questions of Ryan, who as a member of the House Budget Committee, is always asked for his take on financial matters. Ah, the good old days.  Ask a question, get an answer. Listening sessions have been set up by members of both parties, but Ryan has drawn protestors, who seem to have the impression that no one else should be able to ask any questions to even have a chance to hear what the answer will be. I recently received a release from the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and …
