Party on Pioneer: Ribbon Cutting, Run, Revelry Will Officially Reopen Historic Street

The historic road will be officially opened with a ribbon cutting and celebration that will have runners lacing up, and a block party to offer music, food and more

The first week of June looks to be the week to celebrate in Muskego, and you can add another great event that's likely to start a new tradition on Pioneer Drive. A ribbon cutting to celebrate the completion of the reconstruction of the historic street will take place on Saturday, June 8 at 9:45 a.m., with a 5K run and walk and block party to follow at 10 a.m. The Muskego Chamber of Commerce along with numerous area businesses are sponsoring the day-long event. For those of you keeping score at home, that's the day after Jammin' on Janesville, and two days after Muskego's first farmers market (location is likely to be at Salentine) on Thursday. Runners will race at 10 a.m. starting and ending in Veteran's Park, with walkers to follow …

Where to Go Out to Ring In the New Year in Muskego

Muskego's pubs have a local pub crawl Thursday night, but will also be open for your New Year's pleasure, as well as the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1.

The party starts early in Muskego as the last big weekend of the year approaches, taking us nearly to mid week next week. Overall, tavern owners tell us it's not as big of a night as you would expect, so things are kept fairly low-key. If you feel like heading out to celebrate there are also a few options, beginning Thursday, but as in all things, be smart and be safe. Thursday, Dec. 27 - Holiday Pub Crawl 6:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m. Matty's Bar, Marx Pioneer Inn, JD's Pub, Danny Haskell's and Romey's in Franklin are all part of this annual local event, which allows you to 'bus it' between establishments. $20  New Year's Eve, Monday, Dec. 31 - AJ's Bar & Grill: plenty happening on the last night of the year, including a giveaway for an HD TV. …

Jammin' After Hours: How a Black T-Shirt Can Save You Green

After hours promotion is hoped to keep the party going, while saving festival goers money on area food and beverages.

As the sun sets on the July 6 edition of Jammin' on Janesville, and a long hot holiday week, folks who are just getting started on the weekend can hang out and cash in on savings...if they're wearing the signature black Jammin' tees that have been on sale since the June 1 fest, or the Randy Roadbot mascot pin. Here's the deal: wear a Jammin' on Janesville black tee shirt, on sale at the Muskego Chamber of Commerce office if you don't have one already, and you will be granted discounts at various businesses after the scheduled close of the festival at 9 p.m. Normally, tee shirts cost $10 and pins are $5, but now through July 5, stop in the office with a non-perishable food or monetary donation for the Muskego Food Pantry, the July nonprofit…

More Bang for the Buck at Jammin'

New dollar menu seeks to spread the wealth of attendance so people 'graze' along the whole route of the 4-mile festival.

No doubt the Jammin' on Janesville mailer and map came to your house just befor the weekend, and one of the new features this year is a dollar menu. Organizers hope to encourage patrons, who came out in the thousands last year, to taste a little from each restaurant along the way, instead of 'hunkering down' and having a larger meal in one spot. This year, of the 90 or more businesses participating in the event, about 20 percent will be featuring some food or beverage menu, so the dollar menu is hoped to allow people to try more in more places. Coordinator Cassandra Wurster said there are about 25 menu items on the list. Some menu items are not food, like the 'mini spa' offered by L Spa, but most will be perfect for walking and noshing at …

Our Readers Say: Sauced Fish is the Most Delish In Muskego

After spirited competition, there has to be a winner, and newcomer Sauced is voted best of fish frys.

In a week of polling, more than 1,000 votes cast determined that Sauced Restaurant was the best fish fry in Muskego. Sauced is one of Muskego's newest restaurants, but has won fans over for its inventive combinations on pizza, wings, and now fish frys, garnering 313 votes. The number of votes, coupled with enthusiastic comments from many of its customers made the decision an easy one. However, planning an evening out tonight may still be more difficult as the list of candidates shows it's an embarrassment of riches in Muskego. For many, it's not just about the fish, but the dishes that sit next to it on a plate. Coleslaw and potato pancakes seemed to get as many rave reviews for voters as the fish itself, which tells you we like our meals …

Jofar....oh, lordy, no recalls. Truthfully, everyone wins here. I love Pioneer's fry, in part because of their atmosphere. Mark Sobczak did an amazing job with the renovations on this place, and has continued to make improvements over the years. Glad too that Sauced has renovated and redefined the type of establishment along Woods Road that many had truthfully driven past thinking it was still …   more ›

Who Has the Best Fry in Muskego? We Want Your Suggestions

We're in a great city for your choice of fish, atmosphere and price range. So which fish fry has won your heart?

Who's got the best fish fry in Muskego? Patch wants to know. Fish fries are always popular in Wisconsin, and everyone has a favorite, but there is no time for a fish fry like Lent, which began this week. Muskego Patch recently threw out the question on our Facebook page and received an immediate and enthusiastic response. So here's the question again...where is the first place on your list when Friday comes around and you're craving something from the end of a fishing line? We'd like to know where your favorite spot is for a Friday night fish fry. Give us a suggestion in the comments section below, and we'll feature that place in a poll on Monday, Feb 27. You'll be able to vote throughout the week, and we'll name the winner on March 2. …
