Muskego man who was arrested for OWI in April in Milwaukee is charged with a misdemeanor for fleeing; officer who hit Strasser will not be reprimanded, but is instructed to undergo training for his use of profanity.
According to Patch's media partner at Fox 6, Muskego man Jeffrey Strasser has been charged with fleeing an officer in the wake of an incident in downtown Milwaukee in April 2012. Strasser was driving a friend's Lamboughini and was drunk when police pulled him from the vehicle and attempted to subdue him, according to reports. A video of the arrest appeared to show officer Eric Ratzman striking Strasser, which led to an internal investigation by police to determine whether action would be taken against Ratzman. Strasser had indicated earlier that he was considering legal action against Ratzman and the Milwaukee Police Department, but no citizen complaint was ever filed regarding the arrest. Strasser’s blood alcohol content was .19 — or more…

Milwaukee mayor and Gov. Scott Walker exchange barbs over the misreporting of Milwaukee's crime data.
Gubernatorial candidate Tom Barrett Thursday blasted Gov. Scott Walker for vilifying the Milwaukee Police Department for what Barrett says was a miscalculation of crime statistics — an issue that has become political fodder on the campaign trail in recent days. "Shame on Governor Walker if he impugns the integrity of the beat cops of the Milwaukee Police Department because these are men and women that put their lives on the line every single day," the Milwaukee mayor said during a press conference. Milwaukee's crime data became an issue in gubernatorial recall race after the Journal Sentinel published a story earlier this week that indicated the Milwaukee Police Department may have misreported more than 500 assault cases since 2009 to the…

There's no telling how many "99 Percenters" will attend Saturday's demonstration, but Milwaukee Police Chief Ed Flynn says the department is ready.
On Saturday anywhere from 25 to 4,000 protesters will converge on Zeidler Park and march to Chase Bank in downtown Milwaukee as part of the “Occupy Wall Street” movement that has swept across the nation. And no matter how many “99 Percenters” turn out for the “Occupy Milwaukee” event, Milwaukee Police Chief Ed Flynn said his officers are well prepared. “I don’t have any major concerns, quite honestly. I’m convinced that we have a good pre-plan, and we’ve got a disciplined group of officers attending it,” Flynn said at a press conference Friday evening. “We know our mission.” The “Occupy Milwaukee” demonstration is set to begin at 11 a.m. with a rally at Zeidler Park along West Michigan Street. The plan is to move the group to the Chase …

Usually when a police officer asks you to do something, doing as they say is not optional. I learned this is also a good idea when you've been pulled over for speeding, as police say going for your license can look like you're reaching for a weapon. Keep your hands on the steering wheel until they arrive at your window.   more ›
