The return of Muskego's Country Christmas was indeed a Storybook experience, with sunny and warm temperatures and a visit from Ol' St. Nick.
The theme of the Christmas parade that came down a newly-constructed Pioneer Drive was 'A Storybook Christmas,' which proved to be a good omen of the weather, crowds and community spirit on hand at Muskego's Country Christmas. Sponsored by the Muskego Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism, the annual fest was held at the Old Settlement Centre, inside and out. Krisann Durnford, chairman of the event, said that they continue to break attendance records, and estimated the crowd at 3,000 at the height of the event. For much of the event, sunny skies brought 50 degree temperatures and when it turned colder and darker, a hearty bonfire was enough to keep the crowd warm. The city Christmas tree was lit at 4:45 p.m., signaling the official arrival …

The annual Country Christmas celebration is just around the corner believe it or not, and the business mascot relay will return; does your company have a contender?
A new feature of last year's Muskego Country Christmas was a 'Christmas dash' mascot relay, which had a race among various business's mascots to move presents to the base of the city tree. "Last year's dash was a tremendous success and thoroughly enjoyed by all attendees," said event chair Krisann Durnford. "We are excited to bring this wholesome, family entertainment to our community while also offering our chamber members great business exposure." The 2011 Christmas Dash included mascots dressed as animals, insects, imaginary figures, and even the grinch. About 1500 to 2000 people attend the annual parade and the events afterwards, which occur at the Old Settlement Centre near city hall and are sponsored by the Muskego Area Chamber of …

Choral groups, a deejay, and bands rang in the holidays with song.
If you attended Muskego's Country Christmas, it's likely you heard at least one of your favorite carols played or sung throughout the afternoon. The festival made sure to cover its bases to make sure the season was heard as well as seen, and here are just a few 'bites' of what everyone enjoyed.
Country Christmas captures spirit, sounds of the season
Starting with a parade that seems to see increasing attendance every year, the Muskego Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism collaborated with organizations and businesses to present the 2011 "Muskego's Country Christmas." Activities were centered at the Old Settlement Centre, and a 'mascot dash' was new this year and seemed to grab the same enthusiasm from spectators that the sausage races do at a Milwaukee Brewer Game. With weather threatening, but never following through on rain, crowds enjoyed hot beverages like cider and hot chocolate, as well as an assortment of candies, kettle corn and concessions. The tree lighting capped off the festivities and was followed up by a new song about Muskego by local musician Mark Stehlow.
