A Warrior's Effort Puts the Ball in Play at Park Arthur

The regulation sized baseball field was the culmination of years of effort by the Muskego Warriors youth baseball program, and Tuesday's opening day was truly one for celebration

As speeches were made and the first pitches thrown in the opening day ceremonies for the first game at Park Arthur in Muskego, it may not have been apparent how many pieces had to come together to build the diamond. "If it was not for the Muskego Warriors Youth Baseball organization getting the ball rolling this park would still be for sledding only," said Jim Prusinski, a board member for the organization. Prusinski said the process started five to six years ago when he approached Parks Director Craig Anderson asking if there were any plans for another regulation-sized diamond. Horn Field is the only other such diamond in the city featuring 90-foot base paths and a deep enough outfield. At that time, Prusinski's son was playing tee ball …

Building Park Arthur, Brick by Brick

Local baseball organization continues its commitment to the development of Park Arthur's regulation baseball field, and has fundraising set in stone

Members of the Muskego Warriors Youth Baseball club got the approval on Monday night from the Parks and Recreation board to enhance their fundraising efforts with a brick sale, with the hope that the $15,000 it could raise will help pay for the fencing of the field. The group will sell 100 bricks, at a cost of $150 each to place right behind the backstop bleachers of the full size field next to the sledding hill. With the purchase of a brick you can have your choice of message on it. Get great local stories like this on Facebook. Click to join us! Jim Prusinski, member of the Warriors, said, "The bricks will be figured prominently in some sort of pattern where the people can see them without searching all over the park; maybe the shape of …

Play Ball: Park Arthur Should be Ready in 2013 for Leagues on the 'Big Field'

A regulation sized field, complete with outfield fencing and lights, will be ready to go in 2013, with help from Warriors Youth league and a corporate angel.

The pieces have been falling into place for Park Arthur recently, and its first big feature, a regulation sized baseball field, will see construction starting by the end of the month, with features like outfield fencing and lights to come in 2013. Parks Director Craig Anderson gave an update to the Parks Board on Monday, and said that the Muskego Youth Baseball League has really come through on its commitment to fundraise for the large field. They have turned over a check for $15,000 from InPro Corporation for the costs to complete it, with an additional $30,000 planned in 2013. The Warriors had raised roughly $75,000 as of August, prior to the InPro donation. Steve Ziegler, CEO with InPro, explained the donation was a good investment, …

Park Arthur Field Could Be Built on Sponsorships

Public/private partnership could fund as much as 100 percent of costs for sought-after regulation ball diamond, with field to be complete by fall.

The use of advertising signs in the outfields of many baseball diamonds is reminiscent of an era gone by, but for Muskego's newest park, it may also mean they will be yelling "Play ball' much sooner. The Parks and Recreation Board Monday backed an ambitious proposal by the Muskego Warriors Youth Baseball league to raise money to fund the entire cost of the large field at Park Arthur, which features 90-foot base paths. The project is expected to cost $70,000 to $75,000, and has generated a lot of interest among select leagues that are growing and don't enough diamonds to play on. "We have at least six teams in the U-13 leagues that are looking for fields in the city, and will likely have more in the coming year," explained Frank Cistaro, of…

Go get your own piece of land and build your own field. If there are that many teams just in u13, the field will never be available to anybody else except the Warriors. Nice try!   more ›
