New Berlin Walmart Plan Advances Despite Opposition

A large number of people showed up at the meeting to oppose the proposed Walmart that would be built on Greenfield Avenue.

The New Berlin Planning Commission voted to recommend changing zoning from residential to commercial for a proposed Walmart Super Center on Greenfield Avenue, according to a video from the City of New Berlin. The neighboring proposed Walmart development would occupy a 15 acre site located at 15205 and 15375 W. Greenfield Ave. The Planning Commission approved the recommendation despite the presence of over 100  people opposed to the big-box store.  People expressed concerns about garbage, traffic safety, the nearby cemetary, crime rate and the 24-hour lighting and noise.  Right now there are two single-family homes on the site and one would be razed to put another business, said Walmart officials who have an agreement with the owner of the …

Open House for Walmart on Brookfield/New Berlin Border

An informational open house has been scheduled after residents expressed concerns over the proposed development, which has zoning problems.

An informational open house for a proposed Walmart Supercenter in New Berlin on the border with Brookfield will be held after residents expressed disapproval of the big-box store earlier this month. The open house will feature site plans and renderings for the proposed development located at 15205 and 15375 W. Greenfield Ave. from 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 23 at Ronald Reagan Elementary School, 4225 S. Calhoun Rd. There will be an open house format with no formal presentation. The developer and its representatives — Jim Frayn with Manhard Consulting Ltd., and Deborah Tomczyk with Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren s.c. — will be available to answer questions.  The location for the proposed Walmart needs a rezoning and also needs a change in the city's …

Obituary: Edwin J. Seybold

Muskego man was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who had once tried out for the Chicago Cardinals football team and played semi-pro before teaching at Whitnall High School.

Edwin John Seybold of Muskego died Sunday, Dec. 2. at Wauskesha Memorial Hospital at the age of 75.  John was born on November 4, 1937, son of the late Edwin and Agnes (Egan) Seybold of Forest Junction, WI. He was a graduate of Brillion High School, class of 1955. John was a prominent football player in high school and with the United States Marine Corps, which led to a professional football tryout with the Chicago Cardinals. He attended Compton College in California, class of 1958, and played semi-pro football for the Sheboygan Redwings (1959-1960), Manitowoc Chiefs (1961-1966 & 1968-1969), Racine Raiders and the West Allis Spartans (1970-1974). John received a Bachelor of Science degree in secondary education from Wisconsin State …

Spittin' Mad: Man Charged With 3rd OWI After Driving Erratically, Threatening Patrons and Police

New Berlin man is charged with his third OWI after he allegedly hits barriers on I-43 then continues to a Muskego bar after nearly hitting another car and dump truck, spitting on police when they arrive.

A 24-year-old New Berlin man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly drove drunk to a Muskego bar, then spit on two cops before threatening to shoot police officers with a shotgun and blow up one of the officer’s homes with a pipe bomb. Kyle J. Dolezar was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Monday with one count of third offense operating while intoxicated, two counts of discharing bodily fluids towards a public safety officer, one count of resisting an officer and one count of disorderly conduct. If convicted, he faces up to nine years in prison and $33,000 in fines.
