Updated: Influenza Cases on the Rise in Waukesha County

This year's flu season is the worst in five years; how to know if you've really got the flu, and where to get a shot to make sure you don't

  Influenza cases are on the rise throughout the entire country, and area schools and hospitals in Waukesha County are seeing a huge increase in the illness this year compared to last year. Muskego-Norway Schools seem to be immune, however. Superintendent Kelly Thompson told Muskego Patch that the increase from Jan. 2012 to 2013 for absentees has been only 0.6 percent. Flu cases in the Milwaukee area have increased to an “intense” level, significantly exceeding moderate levels in 2011-12, according to Google Flu Trends. Wisconsin is among 42 states to have a widespread flu outbreak, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Man Caught Passing Fake Prescriptions

Muskego man allegedly fills two fake prescriptions for Oxycodone at an area pharmacy.

A 27-year-old Musekgo man is facing charges after he allegedly passed two fake prescriptions at an area Walgreens earlier this year. Patrick M. Masarik was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Wednesday with two counts of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud. If convicted, he faces up to 12 years in prison and $20,000 in fines. According to the criminal complaint: On March 23, Muskego police officers were called to Walgreens after a manager discovered Masarik had filled two phony prescriptions at the pharmacy. The two prescriptions were for Oxycodone and filled Jan. 27 and Feb. 8 at the store, with Masarik paying $240 in cash for the drugs. Muskego Woman Charged For Role in Waukesha Pill Sales

Suspect and her Denny's coworker sell a police informant morphine pills on three separate occasions.

A Muskego woman and her Denny’s coworker are facing multiple felony drug charges after they were caught in a police sting selling morphine pills to a police informant. Joanna R. Lesak, 28, and Brandon J. Lehr, 18, of Waukesha, are facing a combined 10 drug charges for selling the pills to a police informant on three different occasions in Waukesha. If convicted, Lesak faces up to 49 years in prison and Lehr faces up to 52 years in prison. According to the criminal complaint: On Feb. 24, Lehr agreed to sell the informant morphine pills in the parking lot of a business in the 2600 block of North Grandview Boulevard.
