President Barack Obama, on his way to re-election win's Wisconsin's 10 electoral votes after defeating former Gov. Mitt Romney Tuesday.
President Barack Obama has won Wisconsin, considered by political pundits as a major swing state that would go a long way in deciding the 2012 presidential election. Obama was declared the state’s projected winner over Gov. Mitt Romney. Obama and running mate Joe Biden overcame the popularity uptick Romney undoubtedly received when he announced Wisconsin congressman Paul Ryan of Janesville as his vice presidential candidate this summer. With the victory, Obama picked up 10 important electoral votes toward the 270 required to win the presidency. Though their names are separated by just a vowel, Republican Tommy Thompson and Democrat Tammy Baldwin have vastly different visions for the future. It's resulted in one of the most bitter and tightly contested races for a Wisconsin U.S. Senate seat.

A City of Pewaukee alderman and Town of Lisbon small business owner square off in Tuesday's election to replace embattled Waukesha County Clerk Kathy Nickolaus.
With an office mired in controversy the past several years, two candidates are seeking to replace outgoing Waukesha County Clerk Kathy Nickolaus in Tuesday's election. Town of Lisbon Democrat Jessie Read will face off against Republican candidate City of Pewaukee Alderwoman Kathleen Novack to replace Nickolaus. Although they come from different backgrounds, both hold a common theme of restoring integrity to the office if they're re-elected. To acommodate as many voters as possible, City Hall has offered extended hours on Tuesday, Oct. 30. Absentee voters have until 5 p.m. on Friday, November 2 to cast early ballots. If you are registered, you can also print and complete an Application for Absentee Ballot; the application must be received by the clerk no later than 5:00 pm on Thursday, November 1 in order for an absentee ballot to be mailed to you. Ballots received by mail must be returned in the affidavit envelope by mail or in person to the City Clerk at City Hall by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day.
