What Do You Think of Muskego's New Wayfinding Signs?

Approved last year, the wayfinding signs are being placed around the city to help people find parks, schools, and other Muskego destinations. Do you think they will help?

As the city sought to assist residents and visitors alike find those destinations in Muskego that may not be as easy to find, wayfinding signs were approved. The Common Council had debated on where the signs should be placed and how much information could be effectively placed on a sign, but eventually came to a consensus on the plan. The city purchased 12 large and 26 small signs to direct people looking for parks, schools, lake access and other city resources like the police department and city hall. This past week, the signs are beginning to appear, and we'd like to know what you think of them. Are they too small? Well placed? I feel this signs are way to small. I hope they were not a lot of money because this was money not well spent. I have been to other small towns where there signs were much bigger and helpful. I feel there was not a lot of thought put into the design of these signs!!!!!   more ›

Council Approves Wayfinding Signs, Marketing Plan

A small change to arrows was enough to win the council members over, but some are still irritated over what the marketing plan has to say.

The city will be dotted with blue directional, or wayfinding, signs to make it easier to find destinations like parks, schools, and the library. The Committee of the Whole met Tuesday and took little time in approving a slight change to the arrows, which some said looked easier to read. A total of 44 signs will be posted around the city, and will include larger signs with multiple destinations, and smaller signs that will provide additional direction to a final destination. They will be posted on lightpoles through the downtown area, and stand-alone posts as they get closer to the destination. Too bad Muskego's addresses are so screwed up that many things do not show up properly on Google Maps or GPS's. This is why the signs are helpful, especially for people who come to our community to go boating on our lakes, visit the high school for a athletic or music event, or for other various reasons.
