Park Arthur Lights Approved

Baseball in summer and sledding in winter will get more time as Muskego Plan Commission approves lighting

The games can go on a while after the sun goes down at Park Arthur in Muskego, as the lighting plan for the baseball fields and the sledding hill were approved Tuesday night.

The Plan Commission reviewed the plan for lighting the park, which had been in place for some time but has not needed formal action until now. With the regulation sized field ready to roll, one of the last pieces of the puzzle are lights to allow leagues and tournaments using the facilities to play additional games.

In addition, some of the light poles will also provide illumination to the sledding hill, which will allow for weekday use.

"If you think about it, it gets pretty dark shortly after the kids get home from school, so without any lights on the sledding hill, they're limited to weekend days to use the hill," said commissioner Jerald Hulbert.

The lights will be automatically controlled, and will turn off around 9:30 p.m. on the ball diamonds, and about 9:45 p.m. on the sledding hill. There may be special requests that would require approval to extend the hours, but the commission felt those occasions would be rare.
